Ba&sh, the ready-to-wear fashion brand!

You open your wardrobe on a Monday morning, seven minutes on the clock, and you dream of an outfit that will last the whole day: office in the morning, coffee with friends in the afternoon. That is exactly Ba&sh's sweet spot — the French brand that has turned the easy-to-wear piece into a way of life! Born from a friendship, it champions basics with a touch of character.

Two friends, one obvious fit

Barbara Boccara and Sharon Krief did not come out of any fashion school. One came from journalism, the other from law. Their common ground? A solid friendship and a genuine love of getting dressed — the kind of chemistry you cannot learn in a styling course. When they were invited to invest in a project, they took the plunge and founded Ba&sh in 2003, using the first two letters of their first names. The name seals the duo as much as the project.

Since then, the house has grown. It has a presence in France and internationally, with boutiques and a range that covers everyday life as well as special occasions. Knitwear, dresses, jackets, accessories: the wardrobe has filled out season after season. And the original idea has not shifted one stitch — pieces designed to be worn, not left hanging on a rail!

The house recipe

At Ba&sh there is no manifesto or imposed trend. The silhouette plays with bohemian, casual, sometimes very simple, always feminine. The jumper dress is the best example: fitted with flutter sleeves, or loose and white in a little-girl style. Short, of course! A pair of court shoes, a wool coat with a high collar, and you are done.

Another reliable piece in the wardrobe: the bohemian blouse in autumn colours, worn over Bermuda shorts. When temperatures drop, add opaque tights and leather boots — the kind of outfit that looks relaxed even though it took three minutes of thought. And if you prefer a more fluid drape, it is better to try the cut in store than to rely on the photo alone.

The pieces that earn their keep

Slim-fit trousers always earn their place here, with a navy short-sleeve jumper or a flared wool jacket. For evenings, the caramel leather jacket does the work on its own: it gives any outfit structure without you having to think. And the little touch of madness that signs the house? Grey marl wool tights slipped under a dress or Bermuda shorts — a childhood memory, proudly owned!

Before you fall for something, look at the composition and the cut. A material that lasts — wool, dense cotton, full-grain leather — is what separates a piece kept for three years from one forgotten at the back of a drawer. The price goes up, but the cost per wear comes down.

How to wear it

You do not need a whole new wardrobe to adopt the Ba&sh spirit. Choose one statement piece — a printed blouse, a jumper dress, a leather jacket — and build everything else from basics. Raw denim jeans, straight-leg trousers, boots: the contrast does the work. A beige jumper dress, opaque tights, flat boots and a leather bag give you a simple formula that works anywhere.

That is where layering becomes your ally: a fine T-shirt under knitwear, a shirt left open over a dress, and the same piece changes mood with the season. Think capsule wardrobe rather than accumulation — a few strong, well-cut pieces that you accessorise differently depending on your mood.

Budget

Ba&sh sits in the mid-range. As a guide, expect to pay around £85 to £170 for knitwear or a jumper, £130 to £215 for a dress, £100 to £170 for a blouse, and more like £340 to £510 for a leather jacket. Accessories — belts, bags, tights — often stay under £130.

What changes the bill: the material (wool, leather and silk push the price up), the retailer and the city, the current collection, and end-of-season reductions. Where to find the brand? In Ba&sh boutiques, on the official website, in concessions within some department stores, and above all second-hand — resale platforms, local charity shops — where prices fall noticeably and the wardrobe circulates quite well. A smart buy for leather pieces, which often age beautifully from one owner to the next.

Last point: if you are between sizes, try both. When it comes to fit, nothing beats trying it on.
